ST. LOUIS - Mark McGwire and Joe Torre are among the eight players eligible to be voted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame, as announced by club President Bill DeWitt III Saturday at the 19th annual Cardinals Winter Warm-up.

Ted Simmons, Bob Forsch, Edgar Renteria, Steve Carlton, Matt Morris and Keith Hernandez round out the remaining players nominated for the 2015 season. Players must be retired for three years to be eligible.

Two players will be selected by the fans to join Jim Edmonds and Willie McGee, last season's fan vote honorees. Fans will only be able to vote online while DeWitt said voting will begin in March and run through mid-April.

The eight players were chosen by a red ribbon committee compromised of St. Louis-area baseball writers as well as Tony LaRussa, Whitey Herzog and Red Schoendienst.

Two additional players will be voted in, one serving as the veteran pick and the other will be chosen by current players. Marty Marion was the veteran pick last season while Mike Shannon served as the team's choice.

Torre and Carlton are in MLB Hall of Fame.
