(KMOV.com) – According to MLB.com’s Jennifer Langosch, the Cardinals and OF Jon Jay have submitted salary numbers for an arbitration hearing.
While the Cardinals signed other arbitration eligible players such as Lance Lynn, Tony, Cruz, and Peter Bourjos, they did not sign Jay by Friday’s deadline. Jay’s representative has filed a request for a $5 million salary; the Cardinals have requested his salary be $4.1 million.

An arbitrator will make a decision at a hearing soon. The two sides could reach an agreement before a hearing is held.
Jay is coming off a career season in which he record a .303 batting average, hit 3 home runs, and drove in 46 runs. Jay’s big season allowed him to become the club’s everyday centerfielder
