ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A 49-year-old man was arrested after allegedly killing a woman and injuring a man during a shooting in downtown St. Louis Thursday morning.
The woman, later identified as Cheri Simpson, 32, was accompanied by two male passengers when the suspect pulled alongside her vehicle at a stoplight on Chouteau and South Tucker, according to police.
Police said Willie J. Barnes exchanged words with Simpson then fired shots into the vehicle, striking her twice in the shoulder. A man in the front passenger seat was shot in both of his hands, he is listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
Barnes fled the scene and was taken into custody a short time later.
Barnes is charged with murder, armed criminal action and assault.
