(KMOV.com) – A 20-year-old college student said a man who came barging into her Festus home stole from her after claiming he was there to see someone he knew.
The victim, who does not want to be identified said she let out her dogs out her home’s backdoor when she had an encounter with a strange man. She said the man claimed he was there to see someone he knew.
“He said he was looking for his friend Josh and that he said he could just come on in,” the victim said. “He told me not to call police and told me I was really pretty. I thought something was not right.”
The victim said the man then left, hopping a fence and disappearing into the woods.
“I was balling my eyes out at this point and I was like ‘oh my god what just happened,” the victim said.
She said she then noticed that money and jewelry were missing from her home.
“It’s so creepy knowing someone could have been in the house with me and I would have no idea,” the victim said.
Festus police told News 4 this incident is the latest in a string of home burglaries over the course of a few months. Many of them have a common denominator.
“Whenever you arrest a burglar, you tend to solve several burglaries.
