FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- As of Thursday, there have been 861 reported flu cases in Franklin County, almost doubling last year's total, and flu season runs through February.
This year's totals are already higher than the totals for the last five years.
The county has seen the most cases in the age group of children from 5-14, although cases of adults 65 and over are climbing this week.
It's recommended that everyone get a flu shot this season to prevent the contagious illness from being spread.
At the start of the week, the Franklin County Health Department had run out of the Flu-mist vaccine, but recently received a new shipment that will allow for them to give vaccines to anyone from ages 2-49.
