ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning drivers headed downtown for this weekend's “Winter Warm-up” or the St. Louis Blues game to avoid the area around the Poplar Street Bridge, as Interstate 44 and Interstate 55 downtown will be closed to remove the Poplar Street Bridge ramp.

Crews will begin removing the ramp around 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 and will close all lanes and ramps on Interstate 44 in both directions between the Tucker ramp and Seventh and Park.

All lanes and ramps on northbound Interstate 55 from Gravois to the Poplar Street Bridge will also be closed.

All lanes and ramps, excluding the ramp from eastbound Interstate 44 to Walnut, will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, and the Walnut ramp is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21.

The ramp from downtown to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 on the Poplar Street Bridge will be permanently removed to make room for the new dual-lane ramp from the westbound lanes of the Poplar Street Bridge to southbound Interstate 55.
