NORMANDY, Mo (KMOV.com) - Normandy police report Patrick Newton has been charged for the vandalism of cars at the Lesco Automotive dealership in Normandy.

Police say the dealership’s surveillance video allegedly shows Newton shattering car windows by throwing rocks around 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Day.

“He come into the lot and he just started vandalizing the cars and stuff. Breaking windows and he wasn’t trying to steal anything, he was just destroying property,” said Lesco employee AJ Wells.

Newton is being charged with one count of destruction of property. He is being held on a $20,000 bond at the St. Louis County Justice Center.

When a warrant was issued for Newton, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department contacted Normandy police to inform them Newton was in custody for charges unrelated to the vandalism crime.

Newton was previously arrested on December 10 for allegedly partaking in destruction of property in Normandy.
