(KMOV.com) – Those wanting to obtain a conceal and carry permit in Franklin County will have to pay more starting in February.
The cost to obtain to such a permit will increase from around $60 to $100. The Franklin County Sheriff told News 4 the cost rose because of a law that changed in 2013 that put more burden on local departments to supply conceal and carry permits. The extra money will go towards maintaining equipment needed to print permits and store information.
“You got to buy new operating systems to upgrade these. They’re really beneficial to us but they also cost us a lot of money and we can’t just drop it,” said Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke.
Toelke said this is the first time there has been a price hike for conceal and carry permits.
