(KMOV.com) – A man is facing charges after he allegedly robbed two parking attendants at Union Station before using a phone he stole to take a selfie.

21-year-old Matthew Thigpen is charged with two counts of robbery and armed criminal action. Thigpen allegedly robbed two parking attendants, taking cash and a cellphone. Police said Thigpen then used that phone to take selfies before downloading them on a victim’s Google account.

“As technology grows and expands, so does our ability to use that technology to really pinpoint and identify people who are committing crimes here in the city of St. Louis. As they use the technology, we are going to use it too to figure out who they are and what they did,” said Beth Orwick with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office.

Police said Thigpen used to work at Union Station as a parking lot attendant.
