Warrenton, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Two teenagers are facing charges after allegedly firing a BB gun at a Warrenton police car.
Wyatt Bates, 17, and Shawn Lee Stiegman, 18, have been charged with second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer after police say they drove a pickup through Warrenton and fired at houses, signs and vehicles, eventually hitting a cop car in a parking lot at city hall.
A Warrenton cop, who happened to be in the parking lot at the time, heard a shot hit a vehicle and pursued the fleeing truck. The truck was stopped in the area of Morgan Park.
According to a probable cause statement, police found three carbon dioxide canisters and multiple BB projectiles in Stiegman's right front pocket, as well as other BB projectiles in the vehicle's glove box.
According to police, the BB handgun was located on the side of the road where it allegedly had been discarded by the suspects.
The status of a third suspect, a juvenile driver, is not immediately known.
