ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) -- Police say a 14-year-old boy has died of an apparent gunshot wound in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Patrick Boswell of Des Plaines. He was an eighth grade student.
Rosemont Police Commander Gregory Nazuka said Saturday the boy was found lying on the ground about 8:55 p.m. Friday. Police responded to several calls about gunshots in a neighborhood of apartment buildings near Allstate Arena.
Police say Boswell was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy has yet to confirm that he died of a gunshot wound.
Officials say Rosemont detectives and the Major Case Assistance Team are investigating the death as a homicide.
Rosemont is about 20 miles northwest of Chicago.
