38-year-old Jael Clem was charged with manslaughter, assault and driving while intoxicated. By Daniel Fredman
UNION, Mo. (AP) -- A 39-year-old Franklin County woman faces a felony manslaughter charge in what police are calling the alcohol-related traffic death of an off-duty Eureka firefighter.
The Washington Missourian (bit.ly/1pOmjG1 ) reports that Jael Clem of Pacific was arrested Monday on felony charges of involuntary vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and armed criminal action as well a misdemeanor child-welfare violation. A Franklin County grand jury indicted Clem on those charges in late May.
Police say Clem was drunk when her car collided near Robertsvillie with a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Gregory Light, who died at the scene.
Clem was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bond. Her defense attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
