(KMOV) – The Overland Police Department is warning residents about a sales scam.

Police say multiple residents on Tuesday reported a man coming to their homes saying he was from their alarm company.

Authorities say the man told them he was there to upgrade their equipment, but apparently wants to switch the victims to a different alarm service.

Overland police say his shirt has a “clear” logo.

A manager with the security company in question called News 4 and said they are a licensed company and are doing nothing illegal. He said they do go door-to-door but never say they work for another security firm.
