(BaseballStL) — After snapping their season-best five game winning streak with a loss to the Mets, the Cardinals wrap up their NL East home stand with the Phillies.
Philadelphia is 7-3 in their last 10 games, scoring 44 runs.
Shelby Miller will take the ball, having faced the Phils one time in his career. He won that matchup, going six innings and allowing three hits will fanning six.
The Cardinals look to continue their domination over teams from the NL East, having gone 22-4 against that division at home in the last two years.
Lyons A Redbird Again
Tyler Lyons was reactivated from the disabled list and optioned to AAA Memphis Wednesday.
He will be deployed there as a starter on a full time basis. It was made clear this was not a rehab assignment but an ongoing role for Lyons.
He was 0-3 with a 6.13 ERA in six games with St. Louis.
Jon Jay’s strong June is no secret. He has gone 7-for-18 (.389) during the home stand, and has a five game hit streak.
Hie’s hitting an NL-best .419 off lefties, and has had 12 multi-hit games.
If you had to bet on who lead the Cardinals in triples, the smart money would be on Peter Bourjos. The funny thing is, you’d also be right if you picked Matt Adams.
Both have three, and Adams is the first club first baseman since 1993 to record that many.
1) Matt Carpenter 3B
2) Jon Jay CF
3) Matt Holliday LF
4) Allen Craig RF
5) Matt Adams 1B
6) Yadier Molina C
