(KMOV.com) – Hot-spot policing has ended in Tower Grove South, but burglaries are now escalating.
According to Alderwoman Jennifer Florida, there has been a rise in burglaries and car theft since the hot-spot policing came to an end.
“When I look at the numbers of burglaries, it’s gone up from 1 to 11,” Florida said.
Before the hot-spot policing effort, burglaries were up 22 percent. After, they were up only six percent, Florida said.
Florida said she spoke with the police about instituting a special burglary detail in the area because usually a single person is responsible for the string of crimes.
“If you can arrest the burglar, the crimes stop,” said Florida. “So we need a burglary detail in the neighborhood to make the arrest.”
