Victim of fatal I-55 accident identified; road reopens

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Emergency crews responded to a fatal accident on northbound Interstate 55 in Jefferson County on Thursday.

The view from Skyzoom4 showed two trucks were involved in that accident, which happened near the Highway 141 exit.

MoDot officials say one person was killed in the accident and another person was injured. A truck caught fire as a result of the wreck. 

Traffic in the area was being diverted onto Richardson Rd. 

The accident happened about two miles from the scene of a truck fire that earlier in the day closed the northbound lanes of I-55 a the Butler Hill Road exit.  It is not yet known if the two accidents are related. 

The man killed in the accident was later identified as Larry Bauer, 56, of Marshall, Minn. Authorities said the William Brown, 57, of St. Peters was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
