(KMOV.com) – News 4 has learned Pevely mayor John Knobloch has repaid the city for paying his wife’s phone bill.
The city had been paying the cellphone bill for 10 years, which was discovered after an audit revealed the city did not have any receipts for the bill. For months, Pevely officials could not agree on the amount Knobloch should pay because he refused to turn over the phone bills.
Even though Knobloch has repaid $3600, he will receive $3300 in taxpayer money for attorney’s fees. As a result, the city will only collect around $250.
