(KMOV.com) – Police say three children were hospitalized after an accident on Interstate 55 in south St. Louis Monday evening.
Authorities say a car was driving on northbound I-55 at 6:45 p.m. when the 29-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a concrete median, was hit by another vehicle and then crashed into the rear wheels of a tanker truck.
According to a report, a 10-year-old, 9-year-old and a 5-year-old were all in the vehicle when the driver lost control. Police said the three children suffered head injuries and were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
Authorities said the female drive complained of pain in her arm and was taken to an area hospital.
The wreck shut down the northbound lanes of I-55 for hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
