(KMOV) – While it’s not yet technically summer, it’s sure going to feel like it Monday as temperatures reach the 90s alongside a chance for some showers and storms.
Temperatures are expected to reach the 90s in the early afternoon with a peak heat index in the mid-90s.
“A few isolated but heavy storms have pushed east of St. Louis this morning and then only a slight chance this afternoon for a spot storm to pop up,” said News 4 Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton.
Temperatures will drop into the 70s Monday night with mostly clear conditions.
The summer-like weather will continue through the rest of the work week.
“Summer starts in five days with the summer solstice on June 21, but it will feel like summer all week,” said Templeton. “Hot and humid air will dominate all week with mainly temperatures in the 90s and then a slight cool down by late week to the upper 80s.”
