(BaseballStL) -- The Cardinals have only swept one opponent all season, the Arizona Diamondbacks at Busch in late May. But southpaw Jaime Garcia has the opportunity to double that number Sunday againt the Nationals and Doug Fister.
Garcia is coming off his best start after blanking the Toronto Blue Jay, allowing just three hits in 7.0 innings.
The lefty is 3-1 all time against the Nationals as he makes his sixth start against the NL East team.
And the Nats have had a rough go at Busch Stadium. The Nats have not won a game in St. Louis since Game 1 of the 2012 NLDS.
Fister is 5-1 on the season with a 2.68 ERA. The Nats have won the last six of seven starts from Fister - most recently having beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1.
Only three Redbirds have faced Fister - two of them out of the lineup Sunday - Peter Bourjos and Mark Ellis.
One pitch = One win
Left-handed reliever Randy Choate became the sixth pitcher in Cardinals history to throw only one pitch and earn the victory Saturday. Choate snuffed a potential rally from the Nationals who had the bases loaded and one out with a ground ball fielder's choice.
Choate has 14 career wins over his 14 seasons in the majors - three of those wins have lasted only two pitches or less.
The other Cardinals' pitchers with one pitch victories included, Kyle McClellan in 2011, Jason Motte in 2009, Julian Taveras in 2004, Rob Murphy in 1994 and Al Brazle in 1948.
