(KMOV.com) – Property owners in Wood River will have to wait even longer to receive a promised property tax refund.
Residents are waiting on $8 million in money that was left over from a fund to invest in the Wood River Township Hospital, which closed in 1998. Wood River property owners had been paying a tax to support the hospital for decades.
The checks were originally supposed to be mailed to residents in May. Officials said they are waiting for the hospital’s board to release the money.
