(KMOV) – An ambulance district has hired four people and made plans to expand before a voter approved tax hike kicks in later this year.

St. Charles Ambulance District Chief Taz Meyer says that since they can count on money starting to funnel in by the end of the year, they are able to spend some of the reserve funds they have been guarding.

Meyer says a project in Wentzville will be a game changer for response times in the western part of the county and says he wants people to know their tax dollars are going to good use.

The district will get another $7 million from the property tax increase.

The St. Charles County Ambulance District’s efforts fell short in 2013, but voters did approve the increase in spring 2014.
