(KMOV)-- A man is charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in St. Louis
Cornell Leroy Hampton, 38, of the 1200 block of Warren was charged with Forcible Rape, 4 counts of Forcible Sodomy, 1st Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and 2 counts of 3rd Degree Assault.
Authorities said the 23-year-old victim was having difficulty trying to move her car because it was wedged behind a snow bank at North Newstead and Lindell. Hampton allegedly stopped to assist her and pushed her vehicle out of the snow.
After doing so, Hampton then got in the vehicle with the victim and demanded a ride. When the victim refused, Hampton allegedly put the victim in a choke hold and ordered her to drive, indicating he had weapons.
Hampton allegedly directed the victim to drive to the 4100 block of Delmar. Once in the rear of the 4100 block of Delmar, Hampton forced the victim into a vacant building where he raped her.
Several witnesses, who saw the victim being forced into the building and heard her screaming, contacted police. Police arrived at the scene, saw Hampton in the commission of the act and pulled him away from the victim. Hampton kicked a police officer as he resisted arrest but was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she was treated for the sexual assault and minor injuries to her face, neck and chest.
Hampton is jailed on a $300,000 cash-only.
