It's the day Verizon customers and unsatisfied AT&T customers have been waiting for. Verizon can now sell the iPhone.
I was out in the 9-degree weather Thursday morning outside the Verizon store in Brentwood. We got there around 5:30am and there were four cars already there with customers keeping warm waiting for the store to open at 7am. By 7am, there were a dozen cars there.
One woman was buying iPhones for her three daughters. She said she's been a Verizon customer a long time and wasn't going to switch providers to get her kids the iPhone so they waited for their very late Christmas presents, but they are happy.
One guy brushed me off saying he was supposed to be at work at 7am and didn't need his boss to see he was getting his new iPhone at 7am. I told him, once he starts showing off his new smart phone, the jig will be up.
It will be interesting to see how this goes. A lot of AT&T customers were unhappy with the dropped calls. Who could blame them. But will Verizon's network be any better? We will know very soon.
