CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois head coach Bruce Weber admits that after losing five of their last seven games, the Illini show they lack the kind of player that anchors a special team.
He defines that as a player who is talented but also tough. A leader with a hard edge.
It's something Weber's Illini (15-8, 5-5 Big Ten) have lacked for several seasons.
He says the seniors he relies on have talent. But at the same time Weber says Demetri McCamey, Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale are almost too nice for their own good.
The coach says his toughest player might be freshman Jereme Richmond.
But Weber says it's not too late for the rest of the team to find a spark and go on a late-season run.
