Southern Miss names Disch defensive coordinator

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Southern Miss has hired Illinois linebackers coach Dan Disch as its defensive coordinator.

Disch, who has spent the past six seasons at Illinois coaching the defense in various capacities, replaces Todd Bradford, who left to become the linebackers coach at Maryland last month.

Southern Miss head coach Larry Fedora and Disch worked together when the two were assistants at Florida in 2004. Disch spent 22 years as a high school coach in Florida before joining the Gators' staff in 2004.

Southern Miss also announced that linebackers coach David Duggan has added the title of co-defensive coordinator and running backs coach Pat Washington will add the role of special teams coordinator.
