ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- Two men face felony charges in the case of a female acquaintance who authorities say was stabbed 20 times before her body was found in her burning southwestern Illinois mobile home.
Madison County prosecutors on Tuesday charged 21-year-old Donald Phelps of Rockford, Iowa, with first-degree murder and residential arson. Nineteen-year-old Joshua Breden of Alton is charged with residential burglary, and both men are accused of concealing a homicidal death.
Prosecutors allege Phelps killed 47-year-old Angela Lish early Monday after an argument, stabbing her to death before the fire was set in her Alton home. Firefighters later found Lish's body in a bedroom.
Phelps has been ordered held without bond. Breden's bond was set at $250,000. They did not have attorneys as of Tuesday afternoon.
