(KMOV) -- In April, voters will decide whether to keep the earnings tax in the city of St. Louis.

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is already making his rounds, campaigning for “yes” votes.

A "yes" vote keeps the 1 percent income tax for another five years.

A "no" vote phases it out over the next 10 years.

The earnings tax generates more than $140 million for the city. That money goes to city services like the police department.
