Car crashes through Berkeley Post Office following police chase

(KMOV) – A man is in custody after crashing into the Berkeley Post Office around 1:00 a.m. Friday, following a police chase that started in Bel Ridge.
 
According to the Bel-Ridge police chief, an officer pulled a man in his mid 20’s over on Interstate 170 for a registration issue.  

When the officer approached the suspect's car he smelled marijuana and started questioning the driver.  The driver then took off, almost hitting the officer.

The suspect was driving so fast he went airborne and crashed into the Berkeley Post Office.

The suspect tried to run away without any shoes on. Officers found him spread eagle laying face down in the snow. 

The Berkeley Post Office will be open during normal business hours on Friday.
