(KMOV)-- Two people suffered serious injuries after an accident on Route 267 in Illinois on Wednesday.
Rolland Meffert, 47, was traveling southbound near Miles Station Road in Macoupin County when the vehicle lost control due to the ice covered roads. Meffert’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vehicle going northbound nearly head on.
Meffert’s vehicle spun out of control and ended in a ditch on the side of the roadway. As a result of the collision the second car spun out of control and ended in a ditch on the opposite side of the road.
The driver of the second car was identified as 18 year old, Devyn Kahl.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Both drivers were transported by Ambulance to Alton Memorial Hospital.
Meffert was later transferred to Barnes Jewish Hospital.
