(KMOV) – If you thought the worst of the winter storm has passed, not so fast. Plummeting overnight temperatures could make for dangerous road conditions on Thursday.
Forecasters predict that temperatures will drop below zero, and salt no longer works on the roads when it’s that cold.
MoDOT officials say that the biggest concern overnight will be refreezing and patches of ice on the roads for the morning commute. However, MoDOT does say major roads and interstates like I-64 are in good shape.
Some residents have complained about the secondary roads in Jefferson and Lincoln Counties, and MoDOT says those roads have been addressed, but it could be some time before they’re in good shape.
MoDOT advises drivers to exercise caution and be on the lookout for ice when driving on roads on Thursday.
