COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri has signed a top quarterback recruit who could vie for the starting spot, and got a fresh commitment from a player who once was among the top high school recruits in the nation.
The Tigers announced a 17-player class on Wednesday that features quarterback Corbin Berkstresser, of Lee's Summit, and defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson.
The 6-3, 220-pound Berkstresser was ranked the 16th-best pro-style quarterback prospect by Rivals.com after passing for 3,369 yards and 36 touchdowns as a senior. He also had 712 rushing and 12 touchdowns and committed to Missouri in June 2009.
Richardson was ranked the No. 3 junior college prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. He has three years of eligibility left after being redshirted last year following a wrist injury.
