(KMOV) – Police are investigating a shooting that took place in a local restaurant parking lot in north St. Louis County Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials, the shooting happened in front of the Jack in the Box restaurant at West Florissant near I-270.

Police say there is at least one gunshot victim who was struck in the shoulder. That victim drove himself to the hospital. The injury does not appear to be life-threatening.

Police first believed it may have been a robbery and a shooting, but now say it was not a robbery attempt.

Witness Nathanial Weber says that a male pulled up in a car and fired about eight shots at other male targets. He says the suspects then drove off. “They never got out of their cars or anything,” says Weber.

Weber describes the suspect vehicle as a blue Nissan Altima with tinted windows and chrome rims.

The shooting centered around a car that broke down Tuesday night. When the owner and his brother came back for it Wednesday afternoon, the tires were flattened.

Police say the shooter may be to blame.

While the brothers tried to fix the car, shots were fired.

“It’s devastating,” says shopper Lonnie Trammell. “Nobody want to talk no more. Everybody want to pick up a gun.”

Officers are searching for the suspects.
