(KMOV) – A federal prosecutor says one man is responsible for recent bank robberies.

On Thursday, 51-year-old John Neal Jr. from Mitchell, Illinois was charged with four hold ups that happened in Madison County over the last two months.

Police say he was caught after robbing a Granite City bank Tuesday afternoon. That robbery took place at the Bank of Edwardsville in Granite City. The suspect implied that he had a weapon, but never showed one.

He escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police say Neal also robbed a US Bank in Granite City in December 2010 as well as Granite City’s Guardian Bank and the Granite City Steel Credit Union.
