(KMOV) – A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged on Tuesday in connection to an accident that injured a tow truck driver in south St. Louis.

The 50-year-old tow truck driver was hospitalized after being struck by a car driven by Adam Bortscheller at the intersection of Gravois and Ellenwood early Tuesday morning, police say.

The tow truck driver was called to the scene after a driver hit two parked cars and ran from the scene.

While the tow truck driver was loading a car onto his truck, a second driver struck him.

The driver from the first accident is still on the run.

Police suspected Bortscheller was driving under the influence; he was charged for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Bond for Bortscheller was set at $30,000.
