ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Democratic National Committee still isn't saying when it will announce the site for its 2012 convention, but Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says he's hopeful St. Louis will get the nod.
The Democrats announced in June that St. Louis, Cleveland, Minneapolis and Charlotte, N.C., were the finalists. A decision is expected to be announced any day.
During an appearance Monday in St. Louis, Nixon said none of the cities worked harder to get the bid than St. Louis. And the Democratic governor believes the Gateway Arch would serve as an excellent backdrop for the convention.
National Democrats will convene the week of Sept. 3, 2012, to nominate their presidential candidate.
