EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Benzor Simmons scored 26 points Monday night to lead Tennessee-Martin to a 78-69 victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Simmons was 5 for 11 from the field and 16 for 18 from the free-throw line for the Skyhawks (8-14), who led for the last 5 1/2 minutes. Their lead at the final buzzer was the biggest of the game for either team.
Reuben Clayton scored 16 points and Terence Smith had 15 points and nine rebounds for Tennessee-Martin, which has won four in a row.
Cornelius Chatt led the Cougars (5-17) with 20 points and Corey Wickware added 11 points. Dobrivoje Mavrak had 12 rebounds in 14 minutes for Edwardsville.
There were 55 fouls in the game, 32 against the home team. The Skyhawks were 30 for 36 from the free-throw line, making all 13 of their first-half attempts. The Cougars were 17 for 24 at the foul line.
