(KMOV) – Fluctuating temperatures are hard on the roads. When temperatures go from freezing to above freezing, the pavement can buckle, which can cause huge headaches for drivers.
The streets department says that my mid-week, the city will begin to see more potholes.
St. Louis has the money in its budget to make pothole repairs, and drivers can call 314-622-4800 if they spot a pothole in the city.
However, there is concern about its budget for salt used during snow storms. The city does not expect to run out of salt, but the amount of snow the area’s gotten this season will impact next year’s budget.
The most salt the city has ever used is about 12,000 tons in a year. The city is approaching that record, and winder is not even over yet.
Next year, it expects to request an additional half-a-million dollars to replenish its salt supply.
