(KMOV)-- An Illinois man was charged Monday for child pornography, solicitation of a child and failure to register as a sex offender.

Mark Reynolds, 49, was in Madison County Circuit Court with felony charges of child pornography, indecent solicitation of a child, and unlawful failure to register as a sex offender.

Officials say that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by an officer from a Massachusetts Police Department on January 15 advising that there was a case where lewd photographs were sent to a female juvenile in the state of Massachusetts. Officers say that lewd photographs were also requested of the juvenile female.

The officer was able to identify Reynolds as a person that might have sent the photographs and referred the investigation to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives were able to determine that Reynolds was the person responsible.

Reynolds is required to register as a sex offender, due to a previous conviction in Madison County, Illinois. Reynolds had not renewed his sex offender registration and had not reported his email address to authorities as required by law.

Reynolds was taken into custody of Friday at the Hartford Police Department.  Reynolds was held in the Madison County Jail pending formal charges.

A search warrant was also executed on Reynolds’ home where a computer and digital items were seized as evidence.

Bond is set at $200,000.00
