Belleville police bust gas stations for selling alcohol to minors

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A sting, organized by the Belleville Police Department, found that six out of 12 gas stations in the city sold alcohol to minors.

The department conducted the Alcohol Compliance Check on Thursday. Minors, who were working with police, entered the stores to buy alcohol.

The six businesses that were tested and complied by refusing to sell to the minors are:

--BP Amoco at 1301 South 74th St

--Casey’s at 1291 Frank Scott Parkway

--North Belt Liquors at 3620 North Belt West

--BV Quick Stop at 1258 Lebanon Ave

--Quick Trip at 1800 Lebanon Ave

--BP Amoco at 1 South Belt East

The locations that were found in violation and the employee who was given a citation are as follows:

--Circle K  at 9618 West Main St.  Darteven L. Hawkins, 23, from Belleville was issued a citation.

--Foley’s Tavern at 7714 West Main St. Amanda B. Lawson, 22, from Belleville was issued a citation.

--BV Quick Shop at 7311 Old St. Louis Rd. Monir K. Jarabaa, 41, from Florissant, Missouri was issued a citation.

--Fletcher’s Rest at 6101 West Main St. David M. Foster, 32, from Belleville was issued a citation.

--Silver Creek Saloon at 2520 Mascoutah Ave. Christa J. Pier, 28, from O’Fallon, Illinois was issued a citation.

--Casey’s at 1706 Mascoutah Ave. Michael C. Riester, 23, from Belleville was issued a citation.
