Homecoming Game Preview: Mizzou vs. Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Missouri Football App) -- Many Missouri fans are flocking to Columbia, Missouri Friday and Saturday to participate in the annual Homecoming festivities.  Missouri is looking for their first ever conference win on Saturday against Kentucky.

Saturday may be Mizzou’s best shot to get it’s first conference victory as a member of the Southeastern Conference.  So far in 2012, the Tigers are 0-4 in games against SEC teams.  Many know Mizzou’s had a year of struggles so far in 2012 and Kentucky’s record indicates the Wildcats are also ailing.

Kentucky arrives in Columbia with a 1-7 record overall and a 0-5 record in the SEC.  Injuries to Kentucky’s starting quarterback and backup quarterback are one reason the Wildcats have struggled in 2012.

Both Missouri and Kentucky sport poor rankings in most offensive categories.  Missouri ranks 106th in terms of total offense in college football and Kentucky is 113th.  The biggest difference in terms of rankings between the two teams is total defense.  Kentucky is ranked 83rd in college football and Missouri is 41st.

Missouri returns to Faurot Field Saturday after resting during the team’s bye-week last week.  Kentucky lost to a good Georgia team 29-24.  The Wildcats’ lone victory this year came back in early September against Kent State.

Players to watch:

-#4 Raymond Sander, junior, running back: 396 yards rushing with 3 TD’s

-#16 La’Rod King, senior, wide receiver: 35 receptions, 396 receiving yards with 4 TD’s
