ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) – St. Anthony’s Medical center cut four percent of its workforce Wednesday.
The layoffs were part of a plan to reduce the organization’s annual operating costs by $22 million.
Of the 176 positions eliminated, 25 were management positions and 151 were non-management positions.
St. Anthony’s says the reduction in workforce won’t affect the quality of care offered to the nearly quarter million patients the facility treats annually.
“Improving our performance in three dimensions – quality, service and cost – is vital to our continuing commitment to deliver the very best care to the community we serve,” said President James Gardner.
Gardner thanked the employees affected by the staff reductions for their years of service to the health system. Employees affected by the layoffs are being provided transitional assistance.
