ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Flooding in the St. Louis area continues to cause problems for many motorists.
Several roads are closed due to high water on the Mississippi and Meramec rivers and other waterways.
Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard along the St. Louis riverfront is closed. The Mississippi was about 4 feet above flood stage in St. Louis on Thursday and is expected to remain at about that level until beginning a slow descent on Sunday.
The National Weather Service predicts the river will drop below technical flood stage by next Wednesday.
The Meramec was 9 feet above flood stage at Valley Park on Thursday, and was expected to rise an additional 2 feet by Saturday before a rapid fall. Flooding at the busy intersection of Interstate 44 and Highway 141 is possible.
