JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is warning people to be alert for companies that show up after severe weather selling roof repairs and other services.
Koster describes such companies as "storm chasers." He says they typically go door-to-door in storm-damaged areas and may use high-pressure sales tactics or ask for cash up front.
Koster says customers should be wary of repair personnel who travel in out-of-state vehicles and can't produce local references or proof of workers' compensation insurance.
