ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A 55-year-old minister’s leg was severed below the knee after he was struck from behind by a vehicle while he was removing items from the back of a pickup truck Thursday in north St. Louis.

The incident happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the 5700 block of Theodore, in front of the man’s home.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older model Honda Accord. Police say the car turned the corner and rammed right into the victim, then fled the scene. There is no description of the occupant of the vehicle.

Witnesses say there were four to five men in the car.

The victim was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital where he was last listed in critical, but stable condition.
