ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police are searching for two suspects accused of attempted robbery and kidnapping.

According to authorities, a couple from Bunker Hill, Ill. was sitting inside their vehicle in the 3900 block of Palm Avenue when two men approached the car, asking for cigarettes.

Before heading toward the car, one of the suspects showed a gun, then both suspects forced their way inside the vehicle, demanding the couple drive to the nearest ATM to take out money.

Police say the victims drove to a gas station at Interstate 70 and east Grand, where the female victim notified the store clerk of the incident around midnight.

After hearing about the situation the store clerk exchanged shots with the suspects, puncturing the driver’s side window of the victims' car.

No one was injured during the incident.

One suspect is said to be 14 or 15, while the other is 17 or 18 years old.
