MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV) – Five days after the Good Friday tornadoes, some storm victims still cannot get any answers from their insurance companies. Others have been able to get responses in a fair amount of time.

Storm victim Joshua Jones says the storm blew two big holes in his roof, but it will be six days after the storm before his insurance company has anyone in the area to see the damage and answer his questions.

Jason Gregory, another storm victim, lost half his roof, but already his insurance company cut him a check, sent his clothes out to be cleaned and put his appliance in storage. “They've been on top of it, doing everything they said they would do,” says Gregory.

If a storm forces you from your home, insurance companies will usually reimburse you for temporary living expenses. The policy should state how much it will cover. If your insurance company is taking too long to respond, or is giving you the runaround, you can file a complaint with the state insurance commission.
