(KMOV) – Rescue crews were called to the scene of a submerged vehicle in the Metro-East.

The car was trapped in flood water on Brickyard Road near Mascoutah, Illinois.
News 4 is told that a woman, two one-year-old twins, and a three-year-old were in the vehicle at the time.
Police believe the creek overwhelmed the minivan, and the vehicle became stuck in a ditch. Authorities say the woman disregarded a road closed sign chained to the side of the road, which is often done in the area. They say a car was rescued in the same place yesterday.

Rescuers used ropes to help navigate the knee-high water and brought the mother and her three kids life jackets.

The children were carried out and the mother waded out with the help of rescuers.
Ambulances were on the scene to treat the victims. Everyone was rescued safely.
