ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- The curfew for teenagers in the Delmar Loop may be moved to 8pm. That's the proposal in an effort to curb violence. Right now, on the weekends you may see large groups of teens wandering this street. But this new plan is a little tougher on the curfew.
Joe Edwards is the owner of several businesses in the Loop Business District. But during the last 2 years, Edwards and other business owners have been asking for a stronger curfew to stop large groups of kids, who some times travel in large packs causing disturbances and other times have stolen property.
Edwards is president of the Business District Association on the city side of the loop. He thinks the 8pm curfew for those 17 and under will help improve the business atmosphere in the loop
He has the support of business owners on the loop, in both the city and the county.
Joe Edwards points out that the loop curfew of 8pm is much more lenient than the malls in our area, which require parental supervision after 3pm or 6pm.
Edwards and other business owners are now waiting for a response from members of the University City council. No time line set.
