Off-duty police officer shot, killed in downtown St. Louis

(KMOV)-- An off-duty police officer was killed after a shooting outside a bar in downtown St. Louis.

This happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at The Label at 4th and Gratiot.

According to St. Louis Police Chief Dan Isom, there was a disturbance inside the bar, which moved out onto the parking lot. Shots were fired and the off-duty officer went outside the bar to investigate what was going on.

Chief Isom said there was an exchange in gunfire between him and the suspects. One suspect died at the scene, the other was taken into custody.

The off-duty officer was shot in the arm, side and neck. He was taken to St. Louis University Hospital were he was pronounced dead.

The off-duty officer was identified as 34-year-old Daryl Hall. He was a 5 year veteran that worked in the housing authority unit.
